Lake Louisa is the closest State Park to our villa in Ashley Manor. The State Parks charge an entrance fee per vehicle not per person. Check their web site for details.
Take the 54 to the 27 and follow the road north. Lake Louisa is on the left.
There is a sandy beach but swimming is not allowed.
You can walk along the lake and there are nature trails.
Blue Springs is a lovely park where the springs run to the river. In the winter months the Manatee travel up the river to the springs in search of warmer water.
There is an old plantation home on the site.
Blue Springs is north of Orlando and the drive takes around 1 - 1½ hrs on the I.4.
Deleon Springs is north of Orlando and the drive will take around 1 - 1½ hrs.
Swimming is allowed in the natural springs and you can get refreshments in the old Sugar Mill which specialises in pancakes which you make yourself on the hot grill in the centre of each table. Great fun and very filling!
They also run a boat trip up the river to spot the birds and wildlife. They usually find an alligator!
Try to book the boat trip in advance - there is a fee.
